homes with natural harmony

In designing the homes, the goal was to achieve a seamless integration between the interior and exterior. Large glass panels were selected to facilitate open circulation for people and wind, enhancing comfort for residents and guests. Solar incidence was carefully considered, leading to the incorporation of long eaves on the ground floor to provide protection and extend the living spaces outward, creating shaded areas that offer views of the golf course.

The design took into account the area’s natural characteristics and vegetation, aiming to complement rather than clash with the surroundings. Wood was chosen as the primary material to visually echo and interact with the surrounding pine trees. The color palette of the homes, with grayish wood tones reflecting the trunks and beige hues evoking sand, was inspired by the environment. The ultimate objective was to create tranquil homes where nature and architecture coexist harmoniously.

a unique Comporta home

Homes in this region typically feature small windows, classic angled roofs, and shorter or absent eaves, with walls acting as barriers between the interior and exterior.

In contrast, the design approach here focuses on creating an almost invisible transition between built and natural spaces. Walls and windows are large glass panels that can be fully opened when needed. Angled roofs are replaced with horizontal planes that extend the spaces on the ground floor, while wood panels cover and protect the facades on the upper floor. Simple gardens have been transformed into thoughtful landscaping that better integrates the houses with the surrounding vegetation. These design choices result in homes that are seamlessly integrated with their surroundings.
